YOU ARE MY SPECIAL…
This catchy Japanese song has been in my head for a couple years now, thanks to it being the opening song for Season Two of Jujutsu Kaisen, the Shibuya arc. The animation and the song together make for a great sensory experience. The hands at the ending look really, really cool too.
It’s probably one of my favorite anime openings ever, to be honest! Anyway, after season two ended I bought the song, which was surprisingly on Amazon, and I’ve listened to it about five million times because I’m trying to figure out the lyrics to it. However, listening by ear is not working out for me, so I’ll probably have to find a romaji lyric sheet somewhere and commit the words to memory.
Anyway, to keep Japanese in my head, I have compilation CDs of anime music (yes, I still listen to and burn CDs, I’m a elder Millennial) that I listen to, and “Specialz” is the first song on the disc, so whenever I get in the car to listen, it greets me with a hello! I listened to it about two days ago, which is why it’s in my head now.
Someday, if I ever make it back to Japan, I want to sing it at karaoke in a bar somewhere (show off my skills, you know?).
Here’s the song in its entirety, and the music video is a bit weird (in a fun way, of course):
This is a long shot, but do any of my readers listen to Japanese music (anisong specifically)? Do you ever get them in your head?
