Yes, I absolutely do get classical music stuck in my head. One of my go-to songs that I will never get tired of is the song “Schmetterling” from Tokyo Ghoul. The German word for butterfly makes up the title of this piece composed by Yutaka Yamada and the butterfly is a strong symbol throughout the series, particularly when Hinami’s kagune first appears, resembling the wings of a butterfly.

Tokyo Ghoul is an incredible manga (I have every volume of it and Re:) and the anime, while having mixed views due to a plot divergence in season two from the manga, is one of my favorites, despite its shortcomings. I really love all stuff Tokyo Ghoul.

Anyway, there are two versions of “Schmetterling” – a piano version (that has been covered a billion times on YouTube but hasn’t quite matched the original), and then the orchestral version.

I love the orchestral version. Here’s what it sounds like:

Isn’t it beautiful?

So, in random spots of quiet times, the main melody played by the flute will pop into my head. This is an earworm I will always welcome.
