A toad-ally adorable Boys’ Love manga about two total opposites and a sweet interaction that brings them together!

You know, I read a lot of Seven Seas BL and danmei, and I’ve hardly reviewed any of their works on here. I have no idea why. They publish great stuff!

Anyway, I purchased this directly looking for something warm and fluffy to help with my mood, and this did not disappoint. This is an adorable manga about a high school student, Takanashi, who feels some pressure due to his looks and popularity and role as the student council president. He goes to a cafe and notices someone dressed as a giant frog mascot–the cafe’s mascot–giving out hugs.

On impulse, he asks for one. And to his surprise, he gets it!

…Then he keeps coming back for more. If he buys one drink, he gets one minute with the frog, and becomes a regular. In the meantime, he’s trying to hide something about himself–he is attracted to men, and men with muscular physiques. One day he catches Mr. Frog in a startling position–partially unclothed in his costume–and decides to amp it up with his attentions, because Mr. Frog is sculpted.

Takanashi spies a unique birthmark running along Mr. Frog’s chest (it looks like two Pac-man figures!), and that’s how he is able to later recognize that Mr. Frog is actually a fellow high school student, Hiruma.

What’s great is that there’s mutual attraction, although Hiruma is a little more quiet about it. The two make a cute couple, and the rest of the manga is about their experiences and how they come together. The bonus stories go even further into their relationship. The manga is sweet on the romance but introduces a smidgen of spice in the bonus stories if that’s what you’re looking for.

I really liked the art style in this manga. Takanashi is cute and all, but Hiruma is hot! I’m not just talking about his body–he’s got a gorgeous face. The two make a beautiful couple. I appreciate how well-drawn everyone is, plus how expressive the characters can be.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and lifted me up just as I expected it to. It’s a fluffy, feel-good story with a lot of cuteness to it. And, never underestimate the power of a good hug.
