Last night the Goodreads Giveaway for The Name and the Key ended, and WOW did we have a lot of participants!

Here’s the final data:

It’s kind of hard to read, but 5,870 people entered the giveaway, and 5,524 people shelved The Name and the Key on their want-to-read shelf, which hopefully put a lot of eyes on the book. It’s a wildly successful amount of participants, especially compared to the numbers I pulled for Son of the Siren when OHB hosted the giveaway for that. (I think I got double the amount).

The risk with doing a Goodreads Giveaway is that the numbers might not reflect genuine interest in reading and reviewing the book, but rather the number of people who just want to get something for free. I found this out the hard way with Son of the Siren and sending out review copies to reviewers and influencers. Most people never read or reviewed the book at all. So while the interest in the book is amazing based on the numbers, I don’t know if that many people genuinely want to read it. I really, really hope so. That would be a huge dream come true.

What an amazing journey this was! I’m waiting for the postcards of the demons to come back from the printer, but each winner is going to get art cards and stickers in addition to the book. The demon art card is especially important because it advertises that Book 2 is coming soon, so hopefully they like Book 1 enough to dive into the second.

I really hope doing this giveaway moved the dial for The Name and the Key!
