Native voices sing out in a star-studded fundraiser anthology!

You Are On Native Land collects stories and art donated by some of comics’ biggest Indigenous creators such as Jon Proudstar, Maria Wolf, and Steph Littlebird. Tales of Native resistance; family and kinship; love and grief fill this beautiful collection, which includes a special reprint of TRIBAL FORCE #1, credited as the first comic to feature a superhero team made up entirely of Indigenous heroes.

Winner of the 2025 Clampett Humanitarian Award with the book LA Strong, publisher Mad Cave Studios continues its commitment to giving back with its third fundraiser anthology. All profits will be donated to Indigenous-led organizations, with a special focus on the Missing & Murdered movement.

This is an impressive anthology that not only has art worth viewing, but writing worth reading. It tells stories of Missing and Murdered Women, giving the horrifically high statistics that show how often Native women are murdered. It also contains interviews and short stories, so you can get the perspectives from a variety of Indigenous creators.

The art is exceptionally varied, but I love all of it:

Personally I like Steph Littlebird’s art the most, though. I love the use of color and thick lines in her work.

The comics vary from superhero to horror to history to inspiring, and as I read, I felt a slew of emotions. Native Americans have been marginalized and attacked for centuries. Things change, and yet at the same time, they don’t. According to the book, 70% of Native Americans now live in urban areas–not the stereotype that everyone is on a reservation–but even this movie into “the big city” has done little to protect the Native Peoples of America.

But despite the wake-up call this comic book compendium brings to the reader, you can also feel hope, accomplishment, and pride. And that’s the largest, best thing I’m taking away from reading this.
