Today was adjunct convocation at North Central State College! It’s all happening too soon!
I really need to get my butt in gear. My classes have been loaded into Canvas, but I need to go in and update the syllabus addendums, and redo the weekly schedules for both of my classes. This is due Monday, August 10. Then, August 12, our Canvas classes are fully published and accessible. Then, school starts August 17.
I have three classes on my plate this fall: two eight-weeks and one sixteen-week. The first eight-week course is Introduction to Fiction (entirely online); the second half of the term is my second eight-week course, which is English Comp I and Lab on campus. The 16-week course is CCP with students at a high school about 45 minutes away from where I live. So, I’ll be commuting again this term, but 45 minutes instead of the two hours to Zanesville. Yippee!
I am so glad to be back at NCSC. There was a year where no courses were being offered to me, so I taught at Zanesville to make up for that. But the commute killed me, so I reached out to NCSC asking for courses this fall, and was able to get some in for this term. CCP might be available to me in the Spring, too–the high school has been asking for me to continue on.
I’m gung-ho about almost all of this except redoing the schedule. An 8-week schedule has auto-populated in the 16-week course, but I need to go back, make things last two weeks instead of one, and then redo all of the assignment due dates. I can’t seem to wrap my brain around doing this for some reason. I’ll be hammering all of that out tomorrow since the schedule is part of the syllabus documents due Monday.
It’s a lot of work and I have almost no time to do it. Please wish me luck!
