So…this is a bummer to write.

I review a lot of manga on this website, and I review TOKYOPOP the most thanks to a great relationship I have with a PR group that always supplied digital galleys to me.

However, I have been asking about more TOKYOPOP publications and the well has dried–they will not supply me with more ARCs for some reason, despite my nudging. I have been diverted elsewhere for manga reviewing. I don’t mind reviewing other publishing companies’ manga, but TOKYOPOP was my bread and butter on this website.

I reached out to TOKYOPOP directly in May to see if I could continue to review their works and get digital galleys directly from them (and I linked to some of my reviews for good measure), but I’ve not gotten any response.

Suffice it to say that without digital galleys, I’ll only be able to review TOKYOPOP manga if I buy it and like it, or if I reprint previous TOKYOPOP reviews from when I wrote for The Beat (which I’ve been doing the past couple days). Because I don’t have work picking up until the Fall (unless I nail tomorrow’s job interview), suffice it to say I’m not going to buy new manga anytime soon, and I won’t be able to do any (p)reviews for this website when it comes to TOKYOPOP works.

I’m pretty bummed about this, to be honest. I still hold out hope that TOKYOPOP may contact me and I can resume reviewing their manga in advance of publication, but I wanted to let you know that for the foreseeable future, TOKYOPOP posts will dwindle on this site. 😭
