I DID IT! I figured out what The Fear and the Flame is about!

…Ok, I always knew what it was going to be about, but I just didn’t have enough conflict, and I didn’t know how to get from A to B. I had started filling out the 10-Block Plotting Worksheet for the book, and ran into a huge writer’s block.

Friends and family advised me to take a lengthy rest, since I had just pumped out The Step and the Walk. I didn’t want to rest for very long because I want to use this summer break to write as much as possible before teaching resumes again (teaching always makes it harder to write). But I took a couple days (literally two) to read plotting and conflict books, then switch to watching anime and reading more BL.

This morning I had some ideas, and I woke up and wrote a four-page bullet list of events I wanted to have happen in the book. And this became a sort of makeshift outline. I have a clear beginning, middle, and end…side plots haven’t been created yet, but those will come together later. The point is, I have a completed story guide in my hands, and I am SO GRATEFUL!

I am going to listen to my family though and take more time off before sitting down to write The Fear and the Flame, but I finally feel ready at last to start.
