This is an ANCIENT BTS song. I’ve only heard the Korean version once, and that was when I was living in Japan and we were playing music on a road trip. I immediately liked the beat, and went searching for the single to purchase, when I stumbled across the Japanese version.
Seeing as how I was living in Japan and wanting to study the Japanese language, I jumped on buying this version. I even used it later for a lesson plan on rhyming!
Anyway, here’s the music video to Blood, Sweat & Tears in Japanese:
I have a Japanese mix CD (yes, I drive a car that still has a CD player in it–I also drove one in Japan) that I listen to and sing along with to practice Japanese pronunciation and understanding, and this song is on it. And the opening “Chi Asa Namida” always pops in my head at random times.
Standing at checkout– CHI ASA NAMIDA
Driving to work– CHI ASA NAMIDA
In the middle of writing– CHI ASA NAMIDA
During a TV commercial– CHI ASA NAMIDA
…You get the point.
I don’t download Japanese songs very often, and I get them mostly as anisong, so all of my music is dated. I think the newest Japanese song I downloaded was “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu and that was from 2023.
Blood, Sweat & Tears dates from 2017. Holy crap! But after all of these years–coming up on a decade–it’s still a great song to me.
