This is an OLD SONG!! In fact, most of the songs that get stuck in my head are old.

BTS’s “Dynamite” came out August 2020. I was living in Japan at the time and fell really, really behind on listening to English songs that were coming out when I was over there. It was like I was in a bubble. The first time I heard “it “Dynamite” was when my student Aoi was singing it, and he looked at me like I was crazy when I didn’t recognize it.

Then the first time I heard it all the way through was at the Sports Festival at Kamoto High School in…2021, I think? The second or third years at the school did a big dance number to it.

I like BTS. I wouldn’t consider myself Army, but whatever song I’ve consciously heard of theirs, I’ve liked. Now, I actually have only downloaded their songs in Japanese and English. I don’t have anything against Korean, but I don’t usually hear new BTS songs without someone telling me about them, and I chose the Japanese versions (like “Blood Sweat Tears”) to help me learn Japanese. And then the English, because I like their English singles.

I’ve never seen the video all the way through, lol. Actually, the earworm of this song is just the chorus…I don’t know most of the song when it comes down to it.
