I keep a checklist of ideas of what to blog about or share on social media, and the one that caught my eye today was sharing your favorite lines from your book. I have a few from The Name and the Key that I’ll share, but with very little explanation because I don’t want to spoil things.

Sometime in the chill of the new spring night, Mother left us.

This is the very first line of the book.

Her domayne is Hidden thinges, amongst Paupers, amongst Kinges.

This is part of the rhyme that appears in a grimoire about the demon Isabelle, whose True Name is known only to Andresh.

Fear is far greater a motivation than beauty. And it tastes so delicious… But you have a delicacy all your own, my dear.

The demon Aineiron says this to Lily when they first meet.

If there’s no difference between above and below, and all and one are exactly the same, then anything is possible.

Andresh says this to Lily when they are talking about magic.

That’s it! My favorite lines from The Name and the Key. I hope they entice you to read the book when it releases July 21, 2026. You can preorder the eBook or paperback from Amazon (eBook is Amazon exclusive so it can be a part of Kindle Unlimited). You can also preorder the paperback from Barnes and Noble, Bookshop.org, Books-a-Million, and more.
