I first heard this song going through one of my social media sites, when someone uploaded a clip of a VTuber singing it. This was my first encounter, so I thought the VTuber was the one who made the song up (they have a nice singing voice, too!). The performer here is Evolite.

After doing some digging I looked for the original writer, John Michael Howell. It turns out he wrote the song “Carnival” through a random exercise combining singers and styles and themes together. Look how he came up with this song:

I thought this was really cool and creative, and I really like what he came up with! IT’S BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR MONTHS.

Overall, I think this is a short, creative song with a great beat, and ominous tone, and the “hmm” part really, really catchy.
