The Most Popular Posts of 2024

On the ground, colorful pieces of confetti are scattered about. The Most Popular Posts of 2024
Photo by Chris Barbalis on Unsplash

I started doing this last year as I was inspired by other bloggers and news outlets posting their most popular works of the year. The blog posts themselves haven't changed all that much, but their placement has! Read on, from #1 to #10.

Wishes and Weirdness: A Review of Made in Abyss Season Two - The Golden City of the Scorching Son

This was a very long review about a very excellent but somewhat confusing season. It made my #1 spot last year, too. Read here.

Vengeance and Mercy: A Review of Dororo

This climbed a few spots compared to last year, which makes me happy. Dororo is a great anime (now one of my favorites!) that focuses on Hyakkimaru, a fighter of demons with sword prosthetics for arms. The story is waaaay deeper than that and one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Read here.

Strange Magic: A Review of Jujutsu Kaisen Season One

I'm assuming this became popular again because the phenomenal second season aired and people wanted a recap. I might've been a little harsh on the series in this first review, but now this is one of my need-to-watch shows. Read here.

You're in for a Wild Ride: A Review of Invincible Season One

I'm also theorizing that this was a popular choice because Season Two aired this year and people needed a recap or introduction to the series. Read here.

Quirky and Eerie: A Review of Junji Ito's Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre

This might have appealed to those who were interested in watching the animation of Junji Ito's classic Uzumaki that recently aired, and they wanted to find out more about the master horror manga artist. Read here.

May All Taboos Be Shattered: A Review of Season One of Heaven Official's Blessing

The absolutely excellent second season aired on Crunchyroll a few months ago and I think people came to the site to get an introduction to the series. I love this show.

Read here.

40 Questions for my 40th Birthday

This is the only personal (non-review) post on the blog that has some popularity to it. I genuinely don't know why. I don't know if people actually want to read about my life, or if they're more interested in the questions to try things out for themselves. Either way, it made the top ten! Read here.

A Fairy Tale Childhood: Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre

Out of all the "Fairy Tale Childhood" posts, Faerie Tale Theatre is the most popular. I think it made a huge stamp on the brains of so many children (and adults) who loved those kinds of stories, and loved seeing their favorite celebrities perform them. Read here.

The Last Unicorn and the Unicorn Tapestries

This post doesn't really analyze or review The Last Unicorn as a film (one of my favorites, by the way), but is more like a piece of art history, comparing the opening sequence to the famous Hunt for the Unicorn tapestries displayed at the Cloisters in New York City. Read here.

Darkness and Longing: A Review of Made in Abyss Season One

Although season two of Made in Abyss is my most popular post, people continue to find my season one review and read it, too. In all honesty I think I like season one more than season two, but overall the series is highly watchable. Read here.

✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧

If there's anything to be concluded about these posts, it's that people come to my website for the anime reviews. I stopped writing them for a while because they're really time consuming, and I posted about that here. I hope to get back to it, though, because I've seen a lot of great shows!
