This tag came from Luminous Libro who in turn got it from YouTuber Brunette Bibliophile. It's been a while since I posted anything fairy tale-related, so I'm really glad I found this tag.

What is your favorite fairy tale?

It changes frequently but it's either Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast.

What is your favorite retelling of that story?

A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow isn't a retelling of Sleeping Beauty exactly, but contains elements and characters from the fairy tale. Technically the fairy tale is a huge part of the book; it just doesn't retell the story as we know it.

As far as Beauty and the Beast goes, my favorite retelling is Brigid Kemmerer's A Curse So Dark and Lonely. It's actually closer to the Villeneuve version (the original) than anything else I've read--everybody else uses the de Beaumont version (like Disney).

What is your favorite retelling of a different fairy tale?

I absolutely adore Juliet Marillier's Daughter of the Forest, which is a retelling of The Wild Swans. Her book made me want to write fiction.

What kind of style of retelling do you prefer (steampunk, futuristic, etc.)?

This is kind of tricky for me. I like stories set "long ago and far away," so if the retelling is still set in Ye Olden Times, I'm happy with it. However, a lot of my more recent favorites have been contemporary retellings, so maybe I like that?

What two fairy tales would you combine for a kick-ass retelling?

Shameless self-promotion here: Son of the Siren combines three, Allerleirauh, The Wild Swans, and The Little Mermaid. Some readers say I adapted the Children of Lir instead of the Wild Swans...I need to read that story to know for certain! But anyway, I think I did an admirable job of combining all three stories.

What retelling book is on your TBR that you would like to read soon?

The only one I know of is Upon a Starlit Tide by Kell Woods. That combines the Little Mermaid and Cinderella together.

What was the last retelling you finished?

After the Forest by Kell Woods. It's a retelling and follow up to Hansel and Gretel.

What fairy tale have you not read a retelling of but would like to?

I want to see a retelling of Swan Lake.

What is one retelling you are currently anticipating coming out?

My prayers have been answered! I know there's a YA adaptation coming out from A.B. Poranek called A Treachery of Swans...it might not be a full retelling but it definitely samples from Swan Lake.
