Birthday Book Tag

My birthday was technically three days ago, but I figured it would be ok to celebrate now with one of my favorite things to do--a book tag! This one comes from Whispering Stories. I've used tags from them before as they're a great resource for all things bookish.

This one is short and sweet, which is good, because it's about all my brain can handle right now. Enjoy!

Count your birth day along your bookshelf and then subtract your birth month. What book does it land on?

My whole top shelf in my bedroom is all writing craft books. Have I read them all? No. Have I read most of them? No. Have I read this one? Well...no. I just hope by the sheer act of owning a writing craft book I absorb its essence and suddenly become a better writer. We call this magical thinking.

If you could spend your birthday with any fictional character who would it be and why?

I wouldn't mind spending it with Nathaniel or Silas from Sorcery of Thorns. I'd prefer both, as they kind of go together. They would be very entertaining to watch and of course, I'd like to be wowed by their magic.

Find a book that takes place in the season you were born in.

To be honest, I couldn't think of a single book I owned that took place in the summer time. This one popped in my head because "summer" is in the title, tee hee. I don't really plan on reading it because contemporary YA isn't my style, but I thought I'd shout it out here.

Find a book that is the color of your birth stone.

So, my birthstone is the ruby. It's kind of a darker red, which is why I picked this book cover. Apologies that the whole cover isn't red, but I think that color of red is the closest to a real-life ruby versus all the bright red books I've got.

Is there a series with the same numbers of books as your age? If so what is it?

I never thought I'd find a 41-book series, and yet Terry Pratchett's Discworld hits the mark! I know I need to read these at some point because they're such an important contribution to fantasy literature, but I'm looking at other works at the moment. Maybe someday I'll read something from this series!

Pick a book set in a time period, world, or country you would like to have been born in.

As much as I'd like to imagine something gorgeous like 19th century France, the thing is, if I lived in any other time period, I would probably be institutionalized or accused of being a witch or something. My lifespan would probably also be very short. I'd likely spend it in bed with leeches on my arms or something.

I'm going to choose a modern book but with links to the world of faerie. There's a boundary between the two and I think that's best. But it's not impossible to wind up in another world, either. The Darkest Part of the Forest it is!
