🎶 Uh, bichinaneun fame, gyesok oechyeo, I’m your idol
Thank you for the pain ’cause it got me going viral 🎶
This song from KPOP DEMON HUNTERS has been in my head ever since the movie released. That would be June 2025. So…”Your Idol” has been taking up space in my brain for ten months.
I love the visuals of the performance by the Saja Boys in the film. It’s gorgeous, it’s creepy…

Seriously creepy. I’ve been saving these screenshots on my phone forever to show that during “Your Idol,” the Saja Boys aren’t just sexy, but they also look freaky!

Romance Saja looks the scariest, in my opinion.
Anyway, I digressed a lot. The visuals to “Your Idol” are incredible, yes, but I’ve got to talk about the song. We know to idolize is to worship something or someone, and idols are the object of that worship. So, the song begins talking about how the Saja Boys want their listeners to put everything they’ve got–their obsessions, their sins, their dark feelings–mixed together with that unending devotion, and the Boys will happily be their idols. The lyrics and song only get more sinister as it continues on: “You gave me your heart, now I’m here for your soul” and “No one is coming to save you!”
Remember, the Saja Boys are a sort of vessel for Gwi Ma — “I will make you free when you’re all a part of me” means joining the giant bonfire. It’s The End. No more soul, no more you. You’ve become a part of Gwi Ma.
And it’s so easy to forget that that’s what the song is trying to do–lure you towards your end–because you just want to let the Saja Boys seduce you into idolizing them.
Here’s the song, as shown in the movie:
The thing is, the soundtrack has an entirely different opening (Dies Irae! Latin!) and then there are additional verses that didn’t show up in the film. That’s the version that’s been planted in my head.
The closest one I can find that plays the whole song as close to the soundtrack as possible is JUNHEE’s excellent cover. He doesn’t do Baby Saja’s rap, but sings it instead, and it’s a cool change. I like this cover very much!
I actually like Baby Saja quite a bit in this song, so out of nowhere his lines will suddenly try to escape out of my mouth. Otherwise the chorus hangs out in my skull quite a bit, too.
