I received a digital review copy of this work through NetGalley from Ize Press.

The children of the Baskerville family are trained as loyal hounds from a young age, knowing nothing apart from a life of death and deception. After faithfully serving his family for forty years, Vikir Von Baskerville was rewarded with betrayal and execution by the hands of the man he called his father. But when he’s given a second chance at life by being reborn with his memories of his past life intact, Vikir swears to have his revenge against the family he once served. Once again, he must survive the brutal life that awaits all the hounds of Baskerville, but this time he vows to bite the hand that feeds him.

Wow, what a wild ride! I ate this up from start to finish.

Vikr Van Baskerville is a bastard child who grew up in service to his diabolical father as a “Hound” — a berserker, killer, assassin, –and in a great war between demons and humans, he was victorious, only for a conspiracy and rumors by his family to lead him to his downfall and the guillotine by the age of forty.

However, after his death, he finds himself back to life with his same intelligence and memories, but in his body as an infant. He gets to start over his life again, only this time he’s stronger, angrier, and deadlier due to his prior knowledge of training, magic, and the events that unfolded in his previous life. He’s a child prodigy by age eight and knows exactly what to say to his father to get him on his side.

The pacing is fast and the action keeps coming at you nonstop. Vikr’s plan of vengeance on his father Hugo is engrossing, and I enjoyed seeing him manipulate others while growing stronger, and there is so much packed into this first volume that you can’t look away from anything that’s happening.

Sarang’s art is gorgeous and there’s definitely a sort of gothic feel to everything in terms of design. It’s a beautiful manhwa and the action and violence is well depicted. We have monsters like Cerberus and Beezlebub that take some inspiration from their original sources, and yet are wholly their own in terms of interpretation and design.

I enjoyed this so, so much, and can’t wait to pick up the second volume. I am fully engrossed in this dark adventure. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads and NetGalley, it wowed me so much!
