Well, what I was worried would happen happened. With college back in session, I’ve been having trouble keeping momentum and output with my other work. I’ve fallen behind already:
- I’m 7,228 words behind on my manuscript for The Step and the Walk
- I’m six reviews behind on NetGalley and two reviews behind on TOKYOPOP
- I’m running out of Instagram promo ideas and have been posting less frequently because of it
Plus, I’m still tired all the time and can’t make it through a single day without a 2-3 hour nap. Add in the almost 4 hours spent driving on work days to get to and from the college, and my days are long and exhausting.
Add to that all the grading to be done (although I’m in pretty good shape right now)…we’ve got essays forthcoming and that’s going to such a lot of time away.
I’m pretty much so far behind on everything that I don’t think I’m going to hit any of my self-imposed deadlines. I wanted The Step and the Walk to be finished by February 28 to be sent off to beta readers March 1st, to be returned April 1st, and then turned into my publisher the last week of April after making corrections based on feedback.
The whole beta reader thing is a dumpster fire anyway. I did my budgeting and I don’t have the money for beta readers at all for this book. I’m going to have to try to find a way to get a least one pair of eyes on this for free, but either way, I can’t use the same beta readers as before because I can’t afford to pay them their rates.
Bummer.
I guess I just need to focus on one thing at a time. My priority lies with The Step and the Walk, although I probably will sneak in some reviews here and there where I can.
It just sucks feeling myself fall so far behind so quickly into the new semester.
