A partial screenshot of my board on Pinterest.

While I have created separate mood boards for The Name and the Key, Pinterest has been an ancient go-to, where I created my first image boards ever. I created one back in the 2010-2013 era for the graduate thesis version of The Name and the Key, but that changed enough that most of the pins no longer applied, and I deleted it ages ago.

The board is still growing, but here’s what I have so far:

I’ve got haunted-looking mirrors, people drowning (beautifully, I might add), inspirations for Rookwood and Mariner, Lily and Andresh inspirations, alchemical symbols, Regency costumes, and the inspirations for Isabelle and Aineiron, two demons from the book. Nothing on these boards is a 100% match (which is why I’m commissioning art from a professional artist) but they’re pretty close to what I see in my head.

If you want a better look at The Name and the Key board, visit here. I’ll be making ones for The Step and the Walk and The Fear and the Flame, too.
