I have one of those “retrospective look at 2025” posts already written and scheduled to pop up tomorrow, the actual last day of 2025. So this isn’t going to go exactly like that one. I just thought I’d write a cathartic blog entry where I confess my impatience for 2026 to begin.

I want 2026 to be here so badly because I have stuff coming down the pipeline that I’m looking forward to. My trilogy THE DARKENING GATE is going to start its publication journey with THE NAME AND THE KEY in the summer. I have a new semester starting at ZSC where I will be doing online and in-person teaching (thank God I was asked to come back)! I have a health center membership that was gifted to me that I need to really start taking advantage of, and, last but not least, I want to go to Matsuricon in 2026 in full cosplay while giving another (but newly improved) FANFIC INTO FICTION panel.

I’ve got BIG DREAMS, and I’m itching to bring those about!

I also want to briefly acknowledge that politically, economically, sometimes culturally…this year was a dumpster fire.

I don’t like advertising my politics online or especially in the classroom, but there were many things that happened this year that I think legitimately hurt me in my soul…so all I can say is that I hope something incredible happens in 2026 to balance out all of the evil that happened this year (or the evil that is now coming to light). Let there be justice in this world.

Well…I ended that on a downer…so to wrap this up, let’s add something cute!
