People in Gaza are starving, freezing, sick, homeless, and in desperate need of aid. There are Go Fund Mes and Chuffed.org campaigns out there that are asking for financial assistance for a variety of reasons. With it being winter time, and many Palestinians in Gaza stuck living in tents, there is trouble securing food, blankets, warmer clothing, etc.
Because of the numerous holidays in December, and a lot of them known for celebrating the spirit of charity, I’d like to introduce you to a few families who have communicated with me through social media (Threads) asking for help. I want to draw attention to their needs, and hopefully garner up more interest so they can get the help they deserve.

Ali Maher has a Chuffed.org campaign (sponsored by Becca Martin) because his wife is pregnant and they need funds for medical care during the ongoing pregnancy, and right now their only home is a tent in Northern Gaza. Ali has reached out to me a few times to show me pictures of his beautiful wife, and a video of the ultrasound. He also showed me doctors’ notes that describe his wife’s current situation — her health is suffering due to the conditions they are living in. They ruled out epilepsy, but these attacks she experiences are similar and can be quite frightening.
Ali and his family are very cold in Gaza right now and could use money for blankets and warm items, plus money for his wife’s medical care. They are currently raising money to also rent a small room so they can leave their tent and stay somewhere warmer, sturdier, and safer.
Ali’s fundraising goal is not close to being met. Please donate to his campaign: Help Ali Provide a Safe Shelter for His Pregnant Wife and Their Baby, no matter the amount.

The Huwaihi Family (ten members) have been displaced ten times during the war. Their son Yazid was killed by the Israeli occupation soldiers. Mahmoud Huwaihi, a very young boy (one of eight children in the family),
suffers from a rare and incredibly painful genetic disease known as Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), or “Butterfly Disease” as some call it. This disease makes Mahmoud’s skin fragile and delicate like a butterfly’s wings, causing painful blisters and wounds to form with the slightest touch or friction.
In addition to living amid a dire humanitarian crisis where people are starving, medical care and food is scarce, Mahmoud’s health is just another tragedy upon tragedy. With winter’s arrival, the family is freezing living inside their tent, and could use more food and more medical care.
I found out about the family through one of the sons, Thabet, who is active on social media and doing the best he can to circulate the Chuffed.org fundraiser for his family. He also regularly posts updates and reaches out for assistance. The fundraiser, sponsored by Shannon Lee, is nowhere near its goal. Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated.
Please donate to the family’s campaign: Save the Butterfly Child, Evacuate and Help His Family Obtain the Necessary Supplies for Living.
I’ve messaged with Nana Ahel (Nevin), and she also has a Chuffed.org campaign. Sponsored by Effie Again, and verified in the Butterfly Effect Project (line 1505), her family’s situation is also dire. Here it is in her own words:
My name is Nevin Ahl. I am 30 years old and I have 4 children (Malik, 11 years old, Mohammed, 10 years old, Razan, 6 years old, and Naeem, 2 years old).
I live in my home in Al-Daraj, Gaza. I was displaced from it several times and returned to it. It is damaged by the war and bombing, but there is no alternative to it.
My husband’s health condition does not allow him to live in a tent, so we are in our house, even though it was damaged by the bombing. He was scheduled for treatment outside Gaza, but the war came before his scheduled travel date.
It is very difficult to receive treatment, and there is no treatment for him currently, only painkillers, and his health condition is getting worse day after day.
Any donation that comes to me, I have to borrow it from a friend of mine here in Gaza and I pay it back as soon as the money is transferred to me.
Recently one of her sons had an accident that required stitches and they need money for antibiotics and medicine. While it is absolutely true that donating any amount is better than nothing, Effie and Nana have pointed out that it takes a while for funds to hit the account, and that there are fees associated with setting up the fundraiser that eats into what can be donated. They are requesting that if you donate, to please send in larger amounts if possible.
This is another fundraiser where the goal hasn’t come close to being met. Please donate to Help mother Nevin care for her four children and husband with cancer in Gaza.
I admit I know the least about Fatima and her family, but I have donated when she reached out to me personally months ago. She is with a family of ten people who are displaced from their house in Gaza, which was destroyed. She gives regular updates on social media, and her fundraiser is through Go Fund Me. Sponsored by Voice of Hope, and donation protected (meaning if Go Fund Me finds suspicious activity or any issues, they will issue refunds to donators), the campaign has been up since 2024 and could still use your help. While it has made a little over half of the desired amount, they still need more financial assistance.
Please donate to Hope for Fatima & Family from Gaza for Peace.
To be honest, there are hundreds, if not at least a thousand, calls for aid. People have asked me, “how do you know if it is real?” And all I can say is, when you donate money, it doesn’t matter who gets it–it genuinely helps someone. I believe in my heart that the people I’ve donated to are legitimate and could use your support. I hope that if you can afford a donation, you help the people I’ve featured here.
