I had the absolute pleasure of giving my first on-screen interview EVER as a writer! Fellow writer Michael Brockbank kindly offers interview opportunities on his website WriterSanctuary. It’s a part of the After Hours Author Interviews program he hosts on his YouTube, but also the audio is shared as a podcast on a variety of sites, too. He’s been helping authors for years get their time to shine, all while balancing life and writing and publishing.

I was busy researching free ways to promote Son of the Siren because as I’ve stated before, I have like no money. So I was delighted to find WriterSanctuary. I was hesitant to apply for an interview because my appearance has changed significantly since coming back from Japan, but I bit the bullet and applied anyway. I am considered a “public figure” according to the internet and that means I’ve got to put my face out there, no matter how self-conscious I am!

The interview happened on July 14th at 9pm EST time and lasted an hour. It was a lot of fun not just talking about Son of the Siren, but my theatrical productions, my desire to write another musical, the horror genre, fanfiction, cosplaying, The Beat, Japan and Wales, and of course, my forthcoming trilogy!!

Here’s the interview:

We actually filmed this through Discord, which doesn’t allow background blurring or face smoothing/brightening, so you can see my messy room, my Shikoku Henro certificate, and the bags under my eyes, lol. Hooray for reality!

Whenever I’m nervous I laugh…like a lot. So, enjoy my giggles throughout the show. I promise, it’s actually interesting and I’d love for your support. Thanks for watching!

If you’re an author who would like to be interviewed on Michael’s show, check out his website here. He’s really fun to talk to and is so supportive of other writers!
